Dr. Leasa Lowy

I am a Board Certified Medical Doctor. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU). I went on to medical school and graduated in with a medical doctorate degree (MD) at OHSU.  On completion, I did my internship, residency and chief residency at The University of Utah.  I stayed on the teaching faculty while joining Intermountain Healthcare obstetrics and gynecology. I taught residents and had a busy Ob/Gyn practice.  In addition, I study with Brent James in the Clinical Management and Leadership Institute. 

 

I have over 30 years of healthcare experience. Some of my favorite work has been working with women in transitions from puberty, surgery, pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, delivery,  stress, weight issues, health issues, menopause and beyond.   Over these years, I have obtained additional training menopause, all women's health, weight management, obesity, lifestyle medicine, coaching, exercise and diet. I had the pleasure of being part of the 2002 Olympics medical team in Salt Lake City. I believe in constantly learning and using the best data to create a personalized plan for each individual. It is never to late to try something new as long as you have the right support. I have a passion for preventive health, disease reversal, innovative healthcare access, personal health empowerment, wellness, woman’s health, peri/menopause, lifestyle medicine and obesity medicine. For this reason, I am an active member of the Obesity Medicine Association, The College of Lifestyle Medicine and The North American Menopause Society. I am Board Certified and a Fellow of The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

I am a board certified practicing Ob/Gyn Medical Doctor, Yoga teacher, Mom, Wife and outdoor enthusiast. I spend my time working with GYN patients focusing on peri/menopause, women’s health, weight and diabetes prevention. I was first introduced to Yoga meditation at age 16 through my  downhill ski racing coach. I have been studying ever since. I have done meditation research with first responders, veterans and athletes. After so many years, I official received her RYT200 and ABYS level 1 in 2019. 

 

I teach an accessible alignment style by combing Western knowledge of medicine with the Eastern traditions of Yoga in hopes that everyBODY can experience the many health benefits. I particularly  like working with people who might be unsure.  I am currently embarking on studying my  RYT500 & ABYS II (Alignment Based Yoga Specialist) from the Lundberg School of Yoga. In addition, I am studying Yoga for Women’s Health with Tiffany Cruikshank.

Beyond clinical practice, I have been the local, regional, and system senior medical director for PeaceHealth and/or Providence Health and Services. My special interest in connecting patients, families, providers, doctors and leader to create quality, accessible and safe healthcare for today has given me a lot of diverse exposure.  I trained and taught lean healthcare, quality improvement and management.  I studied abroad in comparative women's health care to look at the best available models for achieving health.  I have done numerous consulting jobs for start- ups and large hospital systems. I have a diverse background in being a provider (nurse and doctor), business owner, start-up member and healthcare leader. I am on the physician advisory board to Fruitstreet Telehealth specializing in diabetes, obesity and chronic disease management.  I also am the medical director for SomeDome meditation pods.  I am a team recipient of the Baldridge leadership award.

 

I am married to Jonathan Lowy MD, Cardiologist.  We have two active young- adult daughters.  I can be found volunteering for The Tualatin School House Pantry, The Salem Free Clinic, Borland Free clinic,  In addition, we like to be outside and active.  We have a dog named Mango.
